SHANNON STERN, LPC-S, LMHC
I am an EMDR trained therapist, a board-certified licensed mental health counselor, and supervisor who provides individual therapy to adults and young adults in Massachusetts and Texas. I grew up in the Greater Boston area and currently live in Austin, TX.
I offer clients what I would want in therapy: someone it's comfortable to laugh, cry, and reflect with. I'd want to feel supported in weekly therapy, or feel relief after EMDR.
The therapeutic relationship has the ability to foster growth, insight, and healing. I utilize a strength-based and person-centered approach in therapy, and believe in finding what’s most effective for you to promote positive life changes. I draw from my training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to incorporate skills-based learning into sessions, while focusing primarily on providing an accepting and nonjudgmental space for you to feel and understand your emotional experiences.
The EMDR experience can be a wild ride. You will find I use warmth, humor, and a focus on somatic experiences to make EMDR therapy connecting and integrative.
My specialties include anxiety, trauma symptoms, mood regulation, eating disorders, clinical supervision, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships.

Outside of the therapy space, you can find me enjoying the typical millennial activities: spending time with my dog Charlie, attempting to keep my plants alive, traveling whenever I can, and getting overly excited about anything Harry Potter related.
